David Trude – Chairman

David is a senior corporate banking executive with 40 years’ experience in a variety of financial service roles within the banking and securities industries. David has worked with national and international banks across a diverse range of sectors, managing operations and delivering large-scale, complex financing programs, business development and acquisitions in global operations.

Gavin Powell – Managing Director

Gavin has worked for Baillieu Holst since 1994, first as a financial controller/company secretary before becoming the managing director/chief executive officer in 2000. Prior to joining Baillieu, Gavin worked in the audit division at Ernst & Young for 10 years.

Walter de Gregorio – COO

Walter has been with Baillieu Holst for more than 10 years and previously held senior management roles covering operational and financial risk management responsibilities within the financial services industry.

Salvatore Trimboli – CTO

Salvatore has  more than 15 years’ experience within Information Technology working across multiple industries. He is a senior technology executive focusing on large transformational digital platforms.


Geoff Worrell – Head of Private Wealth

Geoff has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry where he has primarily focused on leading Private Client advisory teams.  Prior to joining Baillieu Holst, Geoff held senior positions with the Private Banking arms of both NAB and Westpac after previously working in the Capital Markets Division with Deloitte.

Alex Hay – Director of Institutional Sales

Alex has worked at Baillieu Holst since 1993, initially in the research department before taking on roles including acting head of the Retail division and head of the Institutional division.

Stephen Macaw – Head of Corporate Finance

Stephen has more than two decades of experience in stockbroking and investment banking, and has been involved in a broad range of transactions during his career. He is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of services including equity raisings, debt raisings, underwriting new public listings, mergers and acquisitions, and institutional placements.

Melissa Nolan – Compliance Manager & Company Secretary

Melissa has over 30 years’ experience in financial markets, with a broad range of commercial experience and a focus on governance and compliance. She has been with Baillieu Holst since 2008.

Malcolm Wood – Chief Investment Officer

Malcolm has extensive experience as an equity strategist, portfolio manager and asset allocator in Australia, Asia and the US. He is highly involved in innovative business approaches to addressing ultra-poverty in Asia.  Malcolm joined Baillieu Holst in September 2017.
